Program Notes:

I was lucky enough to have spent time with my great grandmother who we called Great Grandma Mac.  A video circulated around my family members on Facebook of a very short clip of her playing piano.  That sound became the only sound used in this piece.  During the late 2010’s she was diagnosed with dementia.  I wanted to capture the experience of watching a loved one slowly fade away.   The piece begins with the sample in its purest form.  Over the course of the piece you can hear it wither away into dust.
